How to Disable Firewall Settings on Verizon Router

Overview

Some Verizon router firewall settings may interfere with streaming or third-party applications. Follow the steps below to access your router settings and adjust the firewall.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access Your Router

  • Open a web browser on a device connected to your Verizon internet.
  • Enter your router’s IP address into the address bar (commonly: 192.168.1.1).
  • Press Enter.

Step 2: Log In

  • Enter your router username and password.
  • (Default login credentials are often printed on the router label.)

Step 3: Open Advanced Settings

  • Locate and click on Advanced Settings.

Step 4: Locate Firewall Settings

  • Select Firewall from the menu options.

Step 5: Disable Firewall (If Necessary)

  • Adjust the firewall setting to Low or Off (depending on available options).
  • Save your changes.

Important

Disabling firewall protections can reduce network security. If possible, set firewall to Low instead of fully disabling.
